Seema Desai worked for the Department of Civil Rights, and reported to her employer that she was being required to work unpaid overtime and other hours. In response, she was retaliated against, including being given an unpaid suspension and receiving several threats to her job and her career.
Seema was ultimately forced to quit her employment because of the increasing stress and anxiety from the retaliation she endured.

After the City refused to engage in discussions to resolve or settle Seema’s claims, we filed suit on her behalf in Minnesota District Court.
After engaging in discovery, the City agreed to settle Seema’s claims for a lump sum payment in order to compensate her for the emotional distress and mental anguish she suffered.
