Video Transcript: Employment Issues for Women Professionals
The employment problems that are most common and most serious for women professionals haven’t changed very much in the last 30 years. I’ve been a woman professional for 30 years and I’m amazed at how little progress we’ve made, unfortunately.
Women are subjected to unequal pay. We are subjected to unequal access to promotion, the glass ceiling and we are subjected to a sexualized workplace. Unfortunately, all of those things continue to affect woman and even when women do reach the executive level, their compensation tends to be different, less than their male colleagues. Women are under- represented on boards, as owners of businesses and this continues to be a problem in our society that we’re dedicated to eradicating.

About Toni Halleen
Toni has practiced employment law since graduating from law school in 1988. The field appeals to her because in our society, our jobs can be core to our identity and well-being. Even in her early years in the 70s and 80s, Toni remembers being drawn to ideals of justice, fairness, and social equality in attending anti-discrimination marches, participating in school activism, and admiring the political satire of the Smothers Brothers (and others).
